Prepare for a British invasion at Spectacle! This Saturday, June 18th, we are hosting an exclusive Oliver Goldsmith + Claire Goldsmith Trunk Show.
Now in its 90th year, Oliver Goldsmith has always been a family-run business. Famous for its iconic fan base – from Michael Caine and Peter Sellers to Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly – Oliver Goldsmith has been a long-standing staple in the eyewear design world. Enter a new generation: Claire Goldsmith is the great-granddaughter of Oliver Goldsmith who, inspired by her family’s legacy, decided to launch a new era of Goldsmith designs under the title CG Eyewear in 2010, quickly becoming a well-known eyewear label on its own terms.
Now, these two British family lines are coming together for a one-day only event at Spectacle so shoppers can experience the timeless, classic, and historic collections of eyewear for themselves.
Refreshments including treats from across the pond will also be served for the occasion!

We are excited to announce that tomorrow, Saturday, June 11th, we will be hosting a special Maui Jim Trunk Show at our Yonge St. location! Maui Jim got its start in 1980 as a small company selling sunglasses on the beach in Lahaina, Hawaii. Since then, the brand has become the go-to collection for sun and water-sports fans across the globe due to the line’s advanced frame and lens technologies.
Maui Jim sunglasses are best known for their custom PolarizedPlus2 lenses which offer superior polarization in either SuperThin Glass – a lens option 20% thinner and lighter than standard glass, Mauibrilliant – the brand’s most advanced lens material featuring optics nearly as clear as glass, Mauipure – their most popular lens material combining optics almost as crisp as SuperThin with ultra lightweight scratch and shatter resistance, or Maui Evolution– Maui Jim’s most light-weight scratch and shatter resistant selection.
Join us June 11th to view the entire collection and pick up your own Maui Jim shades for the summer ahead!
Recently, Spectacle partnered with Toronto graffiti artist Elicser to create custom in-store street art inspired by Spectacle’s aesthetic and eyewear. Based on that to run with, Elicser was able to produce 3 unique graffiti images which are true to his nature yet encompass Spectacle in a way which we have never showcased before. Since Spectacle is a Toronto-based company and brand, it was important for us to feature a local artist from Toronto as well.
Elicser’s stylized portraits are a staple of Toronto’s downtown graffiti scene. His work has been described as “dark, mysterious, brooding, and beautiful”, and it is difficult to image the city’s graffiti scene without Elicser’s “bold and affective portraits”. Elicser was also named one of Toronto’s top 10 graffiti artists by BlogTO, and has established himself as a noteworthy name in the graffiti art world.
According to Elicser, he was inspired by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Thisshows through Elicser’s artwork in his use of textures and colour choices. Elicser’s pieces for Spectacle will only be on display for a limited time, so stop by the Queen St. West location soon to check it out! His work can also be found throughout the city, mainly in the area surrounding Graffiti Alley in Toronto’s Fashion District.

World renowned eyewear brand Oliver Peoples has partnered with Public School, a duo of highly regarded, CFDA Award Winning designers, on a limited edition sunglass collaboration.
The Oliver Peoples x Public School collaboration features a sunglass model which, according to the designers, “naturally complements the aesthetic of Public School”, while taking inspiration from classic Oliver Peoples’ designs as well. The frame is a bold acetate style with a slightly sporty aesthetic while maintaining a fashion edge.
A long, linear metal detail runs from the temples and through the bridge, creating an illusion of one connected piece. The sunglasses come in 3 colourways which coincide with Public School’s predominantly black palette. These include two black versions – matte black with midnight express lenses and shiny black with obsidian mirror lenses, both polarized – as well as a neutral grey frame with opal flash electric lenses.
This collaboration is currently available via direct phone and email orders only. For additional information on ordering your pair, please Contact Us today!
